If you have a civil legal problem but cannot afford to hire a private lawyer, you still may have access to the legal system through your local legal services-legal aid organization which provides free or low-cost legal services to persons with low incomes.

The Florida Bar Foundation maintains a list of state-wide legal aid organizations.

Serving Gainesville, and the surrounding area, Three Rivers Legal Services, Inc. is a non-profit law firm dedicated to the provision of quality legal assistance to the poor, abused, disabled and elderly, and empowerment through preventive legal education.

The Florida Bar Referral Service matches people with a local attorney. Although attorneys may charge a discounted fee for the initial consultation, it is up to you and the attorney to negotiate the fees that you will be charged.
