Florida Self-Help Resources

This guide provides information on library resources and other free resources for Florida self-represented persons.

Where to Start

Start with a legal encyclopedia for explanations about general principles of law and appropriate references to statutes and cases. Florida Jurisprudence 2d is a great source for Florida legal doctrine. A multi-volume index at the end of the set will help you locate your subject.

Florida Self-Help Books

The Legal Information Center collection contains many books that might be relevant to your situation. The list below contains only a few of our titles. Search the catalog for a more complete list of our holdings.

Reference help

Reference librarians are able to suggest resources, show you how to use materials, and help you get online to find additional legal resources. Librarians cannot provide legal advice or assistance.  If you need guidance about your situation, please see the tab titled Attorney Referrals for who to contact for local or state-wide legal aid services.
