The Legal Information Center welcomes members of the public to use the many print and electronic resources we have available. The Legal Information Center is open 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday. The LIC has three computer workstations, which are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
In order to use the computer workstations, visitors must have a guest GatorLink account and register on-site at the Circulation Desk with a government-issued photo I.D. Guest accounts are valid for one week and will not be re-issued until expiration. Users of library computers must comply with the University's Acceptable Use Policy for computing resources and with applicable local, state, and federal laws.
Visitors can use the LIC computers to access online research resources and electronic databases that are only available to on-campus users.
Visitors are encouraged to bring a USB flash drive to save research and a scanner is available to duplicate print materials. Printers and copiers are only available to UF students.
Reference librarians are available Monday through Friday 10 am to 5 pm to answer questions. Reference librarians can help you use the Legal Information Center and recommend resources to you, but reference librarians cannot provide you with legal advice or conduct research for you. If you need someone who will research and interpret the law for you, you should talk to an attorney. We have a list of free and low-cost legal services and referral services.
Legal Information Center services are limited to supplying photocopies of cases and statutes for $0.15 per page plus tax, with a maximum request of $20. Requests must be for a specifically stated case or statute citation. After a request is received, the Legal Information Center will respond with the cost. Photocopied materials will be sent upon receipt of payment. The Legal Information Center does not provide legal opinions or general research.
