Emerging Legal Technology

This guide identifies technology that is new, or relatively new, to the legal industry, and explains how to find more information.

Technology Competency

In January 2016, the Florida Supreme Court amended the professional responsibility rule pertaining to lawyer competency, including a comment to make clear that competent legal representation includes technological competency.  At the same time, the Court imposed a requirement for Florida lawyers to complete 3 hours of technology training per accreditation cycle (i.e., every 3 years).

Florida Bar LegalFuel

Keep up-to-date with technology with the Florida Bar's Practice Resource Center, called LegalFuel.  There is a Technology page that collects articles and other resources, including CLE recordings that satisfy the mandatory technology training requirement.
