Administrative law focuses on the exercise of government authority by the executive branch and its agencies. These agencies are created by Congress through “enabling legislation,” and are authorized to promulgate regulations which have the same force as statutory law.
Information about Governmental Agencies
The jurisdiction, structure, and function of an agency are all important when researching administrative law. Agency websites are generally excellent sources of information about their activities, personnel, and organization. The following sources provide information about what agencies do, how they are organized, and the laws and regulations under which they operate.

A typical agency description includes a list of officials heading major operating units, a summary statement of the agency's purpose and role in the Federal Government, a brief history of the agency, including its legislative or executive authority, and a description of its programs and activities, and information, addresses, and phone numbers to help users locate detailed information on consumer activities, contracts and grants, employment, publications, and other matters of public interest.
